Default Greetings from a Very Itchy Demon

I came across dip pens near the end of 2017 while browsing through a book store. I'm an old fashioned geek who uses Linux, so I was immediately drawn to them as tools that I could customize for my writing style (swapable nibs and ink). Soon after that, I went to what is basically a thrift shop for art supplies to shop for stuff for a calligraphy class, and almost immediately found my first fountain pen. Ever since then, I've been addicted. I don't do much calligraphy any more, but I do use fountain pens almost every day, and I still keep a few dip pens lying around ready to use.

My only regret is not having enough money to splurge on the occaisional pen - but then, I'd really rather not wear silk gloves just for a bit of lite writing (I've found more than my fair share of amazing finds at the thrift shop anyways)

Welcome! I too have found a decent amount of pens at thrift stores, yard sales and flea markets.

Sounds like a good collection going already. I have three dip pens ready to go. I find it actually quite enjoyable using them for everyday writing.

What nibs do you like? I've tried a few different nibs but my favorites so far are the Esterbrook 048 Falcon and Jackson Stub (442/942).

You can have a lot of fun with fountain pens for not too much money - as you know! Wishing you good luck on 'pen safari' through the thrift shops and yard sales - I always think it's the most entertaining way of finding a pen, even if you don't always come up with quite what you wanted!
