Default Smooth, wet dark black: Noodler's vs Diamine

I am familiar with both brands of ink, and have used both, but was trying to figure out which have a dark, yet smooth, wet ink in Black. Anyone have a favorite?

    Aurora Black.

Most of the black inks I have are on the less saturated end of things (Quink, Pelikan, Waterman, Iroshizuku).

I would say the darkest and one that I find particularly smooth and well behaved is J. H. Perle Noir. It isn't the darkest possible but definitely won't be confused for grey.

I like Noodler's borealis black, I think it's supposed to be like Aurora and that's where they got the name borealis. It writes great in my pens unless I leave it in my cheap noodlers eyedropper pen and is a very dark black. The nice thing with the noodlers 4.5oz which is what I bought is a free pen it's not great but its not that bad either.

I'll add another alternative to the two in the OP ... Platinum Carbon Black.

It writes quite wet, yet dries fast, and is really dark black (it is pigmented after all).

Whereas my Parker 45 writes moderately wet with Quink Black—which I find to be in the middle of the dry/wet scale—having just loaded the pen with Carbon black, ink flow is comparatively very generous.

Yes, Aurora black has long been recognized as a top black black. It is wet in more than one way. It flows well, and you have to allow time for it to dry.

    Noodler's Heart of Darkness
    Montblanc Permanent Black

...are my two darkest, wet and smooth writing blacks.

My favorite black ink is sailor kiwaguro. Ultra black, flows really well, cleans easily, works in any paper without bleeding or feathering, and has a nice graphite sheen!
