Default Adjusting the tines of nibs in general

I've researched this but have not worked up the courage to try it. I have a pen that was gifted to me but it writes so dry that I want to adjust it for a much wetter writing experience. Does anyone know of a fairly safe way to adjust tines both horizontal and vertical?
    Thanks in advance.

The safest way I know of is to use both thumbnails and forefingers to cross the tines over each other a few times until they are level horizontal. To get them level end on I've tried a very thin brass shim inserted between the tines, then hold both ends of the shim together and very carefully pull the tine that's more out of line upwards or downwards until it's level with the other one.

Do a Google search and watch some YouTube videos on nib adjustment too. Before you start you will need a 10x loupe to keep a check of every little movement.

If at the end you need a bigger gap between the tines you can use the brass shim to pull them very slightly away from each other. Much care will be needed.

Use an old steel nib that doesn't matter as a practice.
