    Default Pelikan Hub etiquette

Hi all! I will be attending my first Hub in a week a d a bit and was wondering about an element of etiquette: is it ok/normal for people to sell pens there? I have a few I want to bring for posterity sake that are also for sale. Is that kosher or should I plan on selling them beforehand to find goodies at the Hub?

The Pelikan Hub is more like a club than a show so any vendors attending will only be there as pen enthusiasts, not selling. As with any club there could be some private selling, but it will be rare and I would strongly suggest contacting your hub master first for advice.

    Cool Re: Pelikan Hub etiquette

It's only once a year, what're they gonna do - blacklist you?

Be as mercenary as you like, i reckon - chances are you'll be doing everyone, including Pelikan, a favour by offering genuine quality merch' for sale

The hubs I've attended have always been small and people were always welcomed to buy/sell/trade but I don't know if any transactions actually happened.

Our local hubmistress specifically said that vendors are not permitted, but if individuals attending do some trading among themselves, that is fine.

I typically bring my pens that people can try and for me to inform those who are new to the hobby about vintage pens, and since this year the Pelikan Hub is before the Dallas Pen Show, I'd also tell people to come to the show.

My favorite spot is near the ink-sharing table. Lot's of fun!

I hedged my bets and sold off two of the pens in advance. Better that someone can have a Pelikan in hand to take with them than buying one right then and there.

I'm pretty excited about this show. I love Pelikan pens and hopefully there is a good turnout.

As a Hub Mistress (in Berlin, Germany) I certainly know that the Pelikan Hub is not a trade show for professionals, nevertheless I just wrote an e-mail to the participants in Berlin where I encouraged them to bring whatever they think is connected to the hobby. This also includes unwanted and unloved inks and pens, also pens that have problems or need repair. Last year we had a little basket where such unwanted inks sat and waited to be claimed for free and also some trading or selling took place. As long as it is no commercial selling by a professional vendor I think everyone is fine with it.

At the last hub someone asked if they could buy one of my pens, so I guess it would be OK to bring a couple along. I can not imagine anyone objecting if pens change hands.
