    Default Montblanc v. Monteverde

    Brown? Gray? Which is it?

Monteverde Moonstone is one of my favorite what-is-it colors, smooth and well-mannered, with a fascinating chroma. It's also been named as a possible dupe for Montblanc Swan Plume Illusion. Aquired a sample of the MB, and tested them both.

The MB ink seems to flow well enough...but this is my only outing with it so far. It seems a bit less lubricated than MV Moonstone, which may resolve itself in a different pen. And since a certain other forum is stripping out ALL my images, I'm posting these here.
My other pen is a Montblanc.

    I like both inks.

And based on these, I think you'd have a blast with Kyo-Iro Cobblestone, which is my current favorite for "what color is this really anyway?" ink.

I've also tried out all 3 of these inks. For me, MV Moonstone is a nice ink and is a lovely brownish shade. MB Swan Illusion is also very nice but seems to be too light and Kyo-Iro Stone Road of Gion behaves poorly with several pens I've tried it in so far.

KI flows intermittently and writes like the pens are starved of ink. It's one of those inks that stays at the top of converters like it has tension keeping it there. It wouldn't write in my Omas either. I stopped using it because I haven't found a pen that it writes in.

The MV ink is pleasant to use, and un-fussy as to what it's in, or on. Given the price, it's a winner.
