Default Shipping and Selling pens to Chile on Ebay?

I sold a sterling silver Parker 75 pencil on ebay over a month ago and today the buyer opened a case had opened a case against me, stating the item has not arrived yet. The buyer is in Chile, so I don't know how often packages get lost there. So, have you ever shipped to Chile and did the package arrive safely? Also, what does the tracking info in the link below mean, as I don't read Spanish very well.
    Thanks

Yep you're screwed. It looks like you shipped them First Class without REGISTERING IT. Looking at the customs number through USPS, you won't ever get a delivery confirmation.

The buyer could easily say that they never received it (even though they may have) and Paypal will side in their favor.

I had this happen to me only once. Now I only ship REGISTERED First Class on anything more than $50.

I had a feeling that I should ship the pencil registered or with priority international, but I shipped it with First Class anyway.

Does anyone know what the tracking number means in the link?
    Thanks

It looks like it was out for delivery on the 14th @ 9:44 am. I am not sure what the entry for the 14th at 1800 means. It sounds like a highway was closed and it could not be delivered.

You have enough information to tell your buyer and paypal that the parcel is on is way. The last entry is as krazyivan says.

Maybe they can call the customer service number and ask when their shipment will arrive?

UPDATE: The buyer has closed the case, but this experience will make me reconsider which countries I will ship to in the future.

Thank you for all the advice and help.

    Best Regards,
    Vincenzo

You don't necessarily have to reconsider. Next time just use the Ebay Global Shipping Program, or at the very least ship USPS registered and insured. If the package gets lost, you're covered and there is proof of deliver.

Before the Global Shipping Program, I used to charge $60 to ship internationally and $10 domestically. It may sound like a lot, but the shipping cost usually ran about $15-20, regering it ran $10-15, and insurance was $10-20.

Chile has one of the most complicated Customs Regulation when it comes to importing goods so better to see all these regulation before shipping anything:

I import every month to Chile and Customs is WAY too hard to deal with!
