I am very new to Nakayas (6-7 years only and with limited exposure to diff finishes) but I assure you that I have personally picked a Resin Nakaya from NIBS.com desk at SF pen show.
It was either at 2016 or 2017 show as i did not attend the 2018 show. It definitely was not 2019 Show else i would have remembered more details.
I was shocked to see a slightly see thru plastic material and inquired about it. I was told that it was Nakayas version of Precious Resin. I laughed, called it a plastic and gave it back.
The girl at the table also laughed and saying, they don't like us calling it a plastic
That pen was a clipless cigar and had similar level of see thru as is seen on some dark Franklin Christophes or in Montblanc Kafka Writer Series. The lighting at SF Pen show is not best and John was sitting in a corner of the hall so i could not capture much details. Just the fact that it was plastic was enough to pass that pen at that show.
For some reason i was possibly mislead by the light reflections on the join. It looked like the threads were see thru. However it may just be the reflection of light and finish.
The OP did not mention any details of urushi hence i felt it fair to ask
