Hello all.
I am fairly new to the wonderful world of fountain pens, but have made a lot of progress since my first purchase of a Lamy AL-Star six months ago. I was going through a rough patch in life and heard that writing in a journal could be therapeutic. My goals were to reduce stress, learn cursive again (hadn't used it since elementary school) and learn about fountain pens (which I had always found captivating). 700 pages of Clairfontaine A5 and >60 pens later, I feel I made great strides with all three of those goals.
My first nice(r) pen was a Pelikan M800. I have been fortunate to have experienced several modern and beautiful pens since then... Noodler's Ahab to Pelikan M1000, I love them all. Dipping my toe in the waters of vintage pens was where I really fell in the deep end of the pool. I have had the chance to own vintage pens from 7-8 makers and have developed a penchant for Waterman's and Mabie Todd although Shaeffers and Parker are on the list too. I have spent quite a lot of time learning to restore pens as well and have enjoyed that process as much as writing with them.
I am looking forward to participating rather than just Googling for information. Hopefully I will be able to contribute something eventually as well.
Thanks for having me.
Note: I took the attached photo with the intention of using it as my avatar photo then found out it's just a *little* too large. Thought I would share it anyway. This is a MT #5 dip nib, a Waterman's 100 Year and a MT 2060.
