Default Pelikan Set a Good Deal?

    Hello, newbie here!

I have little to no knowledge on fountain pens. A local seller has this box of three Pelikan's, all for $25 USD. Is this a good deal?

How is the quality/durability of Pelikan?

They sure don't look like Pelikans.

Yeaaahhhh....those are three black pens in a Pelikan box. Those are not Pelikans.

Edit: looking closer, I'm pretty sure they photoshopped that Pelikan logo onto the image.

I am glad I wrote here on the forum before buying and got such a fast response. Saved me $25 bucks!

Got a reply by the seller:

Here is a photo of the tops of the pens where there is the label. There is an imprint that says"Germany" in the top of the clip which may be difficult to see in these pictures. You can see it in the middle pen best. The pens are left to right, the fountain pen, the bigger ballpoint, the smaller ballpoint. The insert in the large ballpoint pen is labeled "Montblanc", the insert in the smaller ball point pen is labeled "Diplomat.

I wonder if these are not Pelikan, but the brand Diplomat? Btw: the description was labeled as vintage pens.

Diplomat is a brand. They're all Diplomats.
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

Would these vintage Diplomats be a good deal at $25? Are they good quality?

Based on the OP's posts so far, I wouldn't buy anything from that seller.

Not if he's calling them 'Pelikans.'

I don't know much about the value of the Diplomat brand. OP might try an innerwebz search, or look on fleabay for Sold listings.

    Check here:

It's a 1980's West German Diplomat Attache pen with a steel nib.

I think I had a similar when I went through a bit of a Diplomat phase. There alright pens there not one of them gems from the Diplomat range. I'd leave it at that price as the condition doesn't look to be in particularly good. There are far nicer examples of Diplomat out there.

I do find the frequency with which people list pens on Ebay without looking at the name that's on the pen.

Pelikan did make a slim metal pen called the Celebry. Not nearly as nice as the usual pens, but nice enough. They were cartridge coverter pens, snap cap, but has the Pelikan on the top.

I have one of those. It has a pretty nice bouncy nib. Not a bad ladies' pen (if you have small hands and want a cartridge converter).
