    Default Hello from North Carolina

I just recently caught the fountain pen bug (which may not be good as I already have the knife bug).

I don't own any decent fountain pens. All mine are cheap. My total collection cost roughly $6, but want to get my hands on a nice one at some point.

But that may be very unlikely due to being on a limited budget and limited income. But we shall see. Look forward to conversing with ya'll about fountain pens and learning new things.

Welcome - I'm sure you'll find this site interesting and useful. NC is one of my favorite states; over the years I've had the good fortune to visit it many times, from the Smokey Mts. to the Outer Banks. In what part do you live?

Welcome! There are a good variety of really great fountain pens to be had for under $30. This is a good place to get acquainted with them.

    Welcome!

Cost doesn't always equate to nicer writer.

My Jinhao 51A pens are some of my best writers and cost maybe $5. I've bought several and given away some.

So far they haven't cracked or broken like every Wing Sung I've had so far. Yes even my 3008 (TWSBI clone), which is otherwise a wonderful pen, has developed cracks at the end of the section. No leaks yet so maybe it is still usable.

If you like what you have no need to upgrade.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. I love NC as well, being only a couple of hours away from both the beach and the mountains. I am from central part of NC. If I pull up a stump to sit awhile, I might just start whittling. I know my my dad ordered me a pretty nice FP in my opinion for Christmas. I picked it out. Its all metal, blue, was around $30, cartridge or converter filled, comes with the converter, and has a lifetime warranty. It is called Scribe Sword. I know it will be a lot heavier than than the two I currently have which are all plastic.

The one I've been impressed with so far is the one I bought from Walmart.

Hi there. I'm new to this too. I bought a Platinum Preppy a couple of months ago and I love it. Total cost: $4.00. The ink bottle cost 5 times as much; but it'll last a long time

Welcome from Colorado. I tried the knife deal, but found that I really do like carrying the same knife everyday...imagine that...

I forgot to mention I got the knife bug awhile ago. I spent way too much on them but man are they useful. I have some classic vintage pocket knives, an SAK Huntsman, a couple Benchmades, a couple of Kershaws, a Factor and a couple others. I rotate the knives with clips. I rarely use the classic pocket knives. Probably should just sell them.
