    Default New Year's Resoltuions 2020

Ok, any pen & ink resolutions for 2020?

    Mine are;

1/ No new pens - but keep saving for the Nakaya I fancy. it'll take a couple of years, but it will happen.

2/ Run down the inked pens. Do not re-ink empty pens until they are all empty. Then re-ink pens that I want to use.

3/ Sell pens that don't get re-inked by June. If I'm not using them after six months, they probably don't hold much value for me.

4/ learn a calligraphic style. I bough ta flex nib - now to learn copperplate or equivalent.

5/ write more poems, short stories or novels and letters - write every day.

6/ Read more to inform my writing

Does any one have any pen/paper/ink related resolutions they'd care to share?

EoC, you really have to stop thinking that we all hate you or consider you a pariah. I, for one, enjoy a lot of your topic starters. And you received quite a lot of congratulations when you got married, and when you had your paper published by a journal. We also enjoy your script writing, even though you think it's pretty horrendous.

Oddly enough, when ever I see you writing something about everyone hating you, I am reminded of this scene on youtube, where the crowd thinks you're a witch---

    You are NOT a witch!

May you and your family have a safe and Happy New Years! Gung Hay Fat Choy!

PS--- My apologies to the Original Poster for getting Off-Topic....

I'd loosen up. It depends on how many pens one owns and how many pens one inks, but putting a six-month deadline to use or lose while prohibiting inking any pens until all are emptied seems like a self-fulling prophecy. (Perhaps that's what you want.) I did something similar to cull my collection, but I applied a three-year rule, and even that was applied with discretion. After all, some pens are perennial favorites, while others are well-liked but only come out every so often (like two pens used annually to write Christmas cards). Whatever you decide, I hope you offer your rejected pens here in the classified!

    Happy New Year!

    Sandy,
Watch out for Resolution #3. I once knew a person who sold everything she didn't use for 6 months. She had to buy Christmas decorations every year, new clothes every year, new lawn and garden tools every year, etc. She had no inherited items or old family photographs. She was a really bored person.

I want to use up ink. I gifted away about a dozen bottles but still have at least 15. So....starting with the most empty bottles, I'm going to fill pens exclusively with that ink until the bottle is empty.

I love buying pens, but I love restoring pens and to sketch with them even more.
But you guys know what I love the most? Getting a note from a buyer (of my restored pens) with their handwriting using their new pen

In 2019, I get quite a few of those notes. In 2020, I'd love to get more.

Default Re: New Year's Resoltuions 2020

I like to take a running start at New Year's resolutions, beginning a coupla-few days before January 1.

This year... Two Pens, Two Inks, One Year.

Pilot 823 (PO), Noodler's Black and Pilot Falcon (SEF) (that I've already been using for about five years), Noodler's Lexington Gray.

Special Dispensation: If I find an appealing, low-cost pen (maybe PenBBS or Wing Sung) that taks the #6 Jowo housing, then I'll pop the OG Pilot #10 PO nib (in the Joe Grasty #6 Jowo housing) into it; most likely to be used with Maruzen Hatobanezu.

    Anticipated challenges:
    1. Habitual caprice.
    2. Probably two pen shows (LA and Poland).
    3. Neurotic niggling over not having a Nakaya Piccolo inked up. (2021, ether-x! Just give it a go!)
    4. Stylo Art at the LA Pen Show. (Price will likely prevent failure on this point.)

I have already put away all pen paraphernalia and inks, except for one syringe for filling the PFalcon's cartridges (some re-filled and re-sealed already). All the stuff is nearby, just put away in boxes, so easy to pretend it would be too much of a hassle to break the resolution.

I'm simply curious about how I will feel about limiting my paradox of choice and the rippling effects thereof, and there's only one way to find out. To science! And 2020!

Szczęśliwego Nowego Roku, wszystkim! Happy New Year, everyone! Best wishes to all for our 2020 plans and goals!

Hahaha. I need to corral the pencrastination. It's interfering with my actual goals. Sad but true.

It's been only a coupla, few days, and so far, so good. I feel LIGHTER! And I'm only recognizing and aligning what I do with what I want. I want to write with the PO and SEF nibs, but if I have other pens inked up, I'll reach for them, since they're inked up. I don't know why I do this to myself. Next thing I know, instead of writing, I'm pencrastinating (writing with this pen, then this pen, do I like this ink for this pen? What about another ink? What about another pen?; then I'm flushing out pens and changing inks... I'm just getting in my own way).

I appreciate that others have a gazillion pens and inks, and they fill their notebooks with all kinds of fanciful (or serious) drawings and writing, but I'm finally recgnizing that that is my fantasy self. One of my fantasy selves. (Another one is a ballerina.) (Hahaha. Not kidding.) So... I will continue to enjoy vicariously the myriad inks and pens of others (cos I do, very much), and I'll do me. Is it boring? Or genius?! Let's see what 2021 says about it, if I make it through the experiment.

If it isn't obvious, I am in no way proselytizing for pen-and-ink limits. I'm curious how this will affect my habits, hoping to change bad ones to good ones, or, rather, non-productive to productive. I love viva la difference!
