Thanks Chrissy, I can see the line across the "p". So, to be clear the nib and feed should be pushed further into the section as per the green arrow I have added?

How will my not having done this impact the pen's performance?
I think they should be pushed further into the section per the green arrow that you added to your picture.
It might still work OK if it isn't seated in the right place, but, if the fact that it's so far out means it flexes more and is under more pressure when you're writing, as a worst case scenario, it could crack the section.
For that pen, that would be a fatal disaster.

Thanks very much Chrissy, I certainly wouldn't want that. Looking at my 124 side-by-side with the 324 the nib and feed appears to be similary protruding, do these also need pushed in?

The 124 looks like it's in better than the 324

Now I can see the complete feed in a picture, it has the type of double notch that doesn't go in all the way up to the section. The feed should go into the section to the part where it flares up. Like you can see on the 124 feed.

Hi Chrissy, are you able to illustrate in a picture, I'm afraid I don't see the difference between the two feeds :-( Thanks for your patience.

Just try pushing both nib and feed together in slightly so that you see less of the dark mark on the nib. That should work. Like you suggested with your green arrow.
