    Default Parker Vacumatic still drippy

I spoke too soon in a prior thread. That 40s Vacumatic is still acting like it is letting too much ink pool up at the nib. This doesn't seem right or normal.

It writes too nice to let go of. I think it's time to call in a professional to have a look.

Any idea who I should send it to?

    Wait time doesn't matter.

A seemingly insignificant flaw can cause a flooding pen. If the nib and feed are snug in the section, the section threads are sealed with thread sealant (not silicone grease) and the diaphragm has been replaced - and all of the old diaphragm removed from the ring in the barrel, no cuts across the seat, then you should look at a second diaphragm, and maybe a feed that is cut too deep. ...and make sure that the pen is completely full. A pen, even a modern one, can flood when it gets nearly empty. Even the modern Parker repair manuals say, "Complaint: pen floods. Tell the customer to fill the pen."

Sometimes PENicillian helps with the dripping...

-- If the nib and feed are snug in the section,

I had to use heat to seat them but maybe I got it wrong? The pen came to me with the nib not seated deep enough. With heat I was able to seat it to a correct depth.

-- the section threads are sealed with thread sealant (not silicone grease)

Yes. Sealed with proper thread sealant this time around.

-- and the diaphragm has been replaced -

    I did replace it, yes.

-- and all of the old diaphragm removed from the ring in the barrel,

I didn't see any hint of old diaphragm left in the pen; it came out in one piece and was still pretty pliable but had a tear in it.

-- no cuts across the seat,

I didn't notice any damage but maybe I missed something.

-- then you should look at a second diaphragm,

Like, replace the diaphragm with another? I could try that sure.

-- and maybe a feed that is cut too deep.

I don't have any Vacumatic feeds to compare to at the moment.

-- ...and make sure that the pen is completely full.

    I will double check.

    Thanks!

    Michael

Remove the caps and see if you can blow through the pen.
