You can do a bit better than that starting price with a bit of effort, but yes, your point is fair enough. However the trend of discussion on English-speaking fora will tend to primarily emanate from 'Murrica, and I gather it's a more valid point from their POV. Although, for myself, I find the Decimo a preferable size and shape.

Can't help but agree with those who declare it's not a looker, either. But the gizmocity, my friends. It would still call to me (if the pricing across all markets was played fair).

I had no idea that VPs had gone up so much in price!

A: No you didn't; no, you came here for an argument.
M: An argument isn't just contradiction.
    A: It can be.
M: No it can't. An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition.
    A: No it isn't.
M: Yes it is! It's not just contradiction.
A: Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position.
M: Yes, but that's not just saying 'No it isn't.'
    A: Yes it is!
    M: No it isn't!

I have zero interest in the "regular" VP, though if I had a boundless pen budget I'd probably have to get a Raiden VP... the Decimo, despite being a better size still doesn't really intertest me and it seems like the faceted 1980s style VP is unobtainium these days (and has been for a couple of decades)

That's OK though, I've survived without a capless FP for this long, I'll probably continue to do so for the forseeable future

The gadgety quality appeals but it's much bigger than I realized from still photos.

In person, not really. It's a tad longer, but the body itself isn't particularly big, certainly on par with a Platinum 3776 or similar. As I mentioned, it struck me quite differently when I saw it live, rather than in photos.

Yeah, my hand is larger than this woman's, but still. What's the measured length of this pen?

153 mm or about 6 inches. Unclear if it's the same with the nib extended and retracted.

I'm one who is very interested in this pen. I've had good experiences with the Platinum brand overall, and this model seems to solve some of my objections to the Pilot and Lamy retractables. And the price is good for a retractable pen. And I appreciate the photos and links here because I hate to be a first adopter without knowing anything about the pen.

A review-ette or rambling in The Other Place has combined with that video to dim my enthusiasm quite a bit. The thing is, quite frankly, fat. The lure of gizmocity may not outweigh the girth. Length is not nearly such a problem - am I the only one ever to have clicked a retractable pen open or shut by clicking it against my person in the region of the sternum?

For those interested in the side issue of UK prices, it now seems to have dropped to £75. Cult Pens claims that as a discount from the RRP of £89, while Pure Pens just has that figure and no other. Maybe by the time it's actually released it'll be in line with the rest of the world, but at least someone seems to be listening, so that's nice.

Saw that review and was similarly put off. Need to get one in hand first.
Yes, I have opened/closed a retractable pen by clicking against the chestal area, among other parts.

I am one of those folk that never enjoyed any of my retractable fountain pens, never clicked one on anything other than my thumb, never kept one in rotation for more than one or two days and sent all of the ones I owned off to Forever Homes. Actually, I simply dumped all the Pilot/Namiki VPs on a friend that makes a living selling the suckers so I guess I just sent them to foster care.

    I wholeheartedly agree with you.
I love the Pilot VP, but this this thing looks like a poor attempt.

I received mine this p.m. from Anderson Pens. Initial impression is that . . . it's interesting. Haven't inked it up yet but will tomorrow.

Would like to see your thoughts; I like the gizmo but don’t easily add pens to the collection anymore, so am on the fence still.

I've lived with the Curidas for a couple of days now, and thus far I like it very much. Mine is equipped with a medium nib, which is quite wet, very smooth and lays down a line more akin to a Western (rather than Japanese) medium. Right now the pen is inked via the supplied converter with Bung Box "Ink of Witch." The writing experience has been quite positive with a variety of paper from Tomoe River to Rhodia to cheap copy paper - no skips, hard starts, etc.

I also own a couple of Pilot VPs, and the Curidas writes better than either of the VPs. I've only had the pen for a couple of days and don't know what to expect when I leave it unused for two or three days, but so far I'm very happy with the purchase.
