Default Mabie Todd Swan Leverless 1060

A rather plain pen, you might think, though this model came in colours too. Like other pen manufacturers, Mabie Todd's equipment and staff were employed in war work in the forties. Though they continued producing pens in large numbers, especially for the servicemen posted overseas, their product range was limited by the government.

This particular pen was the property of Mr Evans of Blackheath, Birmingham and he returned it to Mabie Todd at some point, probably to have a new sac fitted. Almost uniquely, the envelope survives.

So does the box and paperwork in excellent condition.

This pen shows that flexible nibs were still popular in Britain in the forties.
