    Default Hero 70 "Bident"

I had seen this in passing before ("Hero all directions fountain pen"), but never really paid attention.

Does this one actually sustain ink flow in all nib orientations, despite having just the one slit in the nib?

Every time I see something like this I kick myself for not buying a Trident back when they were $60

If this pen is what I think you mean, I had at one time five of them.

    I now have none.

They weren't horrible, just too slim for me, and a bit stingy in flow. It was similar to writing with an ice pick.
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

lol! I'll take that as a resounding recommendation to stay away, far away!

As I understand it, the Trident was as nail-like as is possible, but had a nice glide when used with the right inks, but the three ink channels in that design would definitely have a better chance of keeping the tipping adequately inked at all angles.

Wasn't there a Parker with similar 'any angle' nib?

The Heroes cost about five each, so not a big deal.

The Parker was a two-way nib as far as I know, the earlier version was the 180 and a later and slightly down-scale version was called the Classic. I own a Classic and it writes a finer line one way around than the other. I've seen sources that claim both were designed to be dual line width pens and others who say the Classic was only intended to write one way. As I mentioned, my Classic is equally smooth and has perfectly good ink flow in either orientation ...however it definitely doesn't write at *any* angle.

To be clear, the "bident" tag is my own attempt at snark, Hero just calls it the 70 AFAIK.

If I had saved one of the Heroes, I'd send it to you just to see what it was like.

    Need to check cigar box....
