From those pictures that feed still looks dirty to me. I would soak it in pen flush for 24 hours.

Ok. I don't have access to pen flush but found this recipe. That should work?
Two tablespoons of ammonia (about 30 cc's) and a cup of water (250 cc's) gives you a ten percent solution (close enough). Add a drop or two of Dawn and you've got pen flush
Sounds good enough.
Many online pen sellers now sell their own brand of pen flush. My personal favourite is JB's mainly because I bought such a large bottle.
I found this that's worth a read.

OK I think the problem is fixed. But I am not sure what fixed it. After cleaning the pen feed with soap and water I filled it with Sheaffer ink and it wrote two pages with no problem. But I don't like the colour so I then mixed up a home brew of pen flush bsaed on the recipe I quoted. In my neck of the woods I could not find clear ammonia cleaning fluid so I was stuck with using cloudy ammonia. I used about 30cc of that, some drops of detergent and 250cc of water and gently mixed it up to avoid making too many bubbles. Then dropped the feed into and stirred it around and left for 24 hours. Then took the feed out, rinsed it out with warm water and brushed the fins with a tooth brush. Then refilled the converter with the Pilot ink and now it has just written two pages with no skipping or drying out. I couldn't see in the "wash" if any detritus had come out (it would have been brown since that was the old ink I had been trying to remote) but perhaps something came out that was causing the flow to stop.
So knock on wood it appears to be okay now.
