Shellac probably would not be my first choice.

I had to buy something to glue one of the soles of my shoes when it flapped off of the front of the shoe while I was in Florida once. It was really strong stuff and it the trick: Barge All Purpose Cement from Amazon.

My teeny, tiny little pot of shellac is too precious for using on anything but pens.

I have about half a pound of shellac discs and a bottle of spirits. I could take a bath in the stuff.

But then it would dry and I would be unable to move.

That's pretty clever, Fred. I have Gorilla Glue for permanent fixes, but sometimes a temporary adhesion is needed. I'll be interested to get an update from you whether it falls off first or lasts until your wife needs it re-heeled.
Online arguments are a lot like the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
As soon as the audience begins to participate, any actual content is lost in the resulting chaos and cacophony.
At that point, all you can do is laugh and enjoy the descent into debasement.

I only use Shoe Goo for any type of shoe adhesion activity.

If that Shellac gets wet the heel will likely let go.
