    Default De Atramentis Archival

For those who have used this ink, does a pen filled with it need more frequent flushing as with some of the other permanents (non-IG's), or is the needed flush interval about the same as with most non-permanents? I have a bottle ordered to replace a 25, or so, year-old bottle of Mont Blanc Permanent Black.

    Thanks!

The standard advice for use of permanent or archival inks is that pens filled with them need more frequent flushing than with standard, non-permanent, dye based inks.

I think I've seen this advice elsewhere: don't let the ink dry out on the nib.

...concurring with Chrissy's and azkid's statements, my personal experience with this ink and the DeA Document Inks is that their performance depends quite a bit on frequency of use (i.e. keep it flowing, use the pen filled with it often) and the feed they are used with; my Document Ink "Urban Grey" and my "Archive Black" both seem to experience a filtration effect in JoWo No.6 feeds, but (so far) not in any other feed/nib I used them with. As a result, the ink will flow llighter and lighter (with less and less pigment contained) and the feed eventually becomes obstructed along the main capillary. However, these obstructions have been easy to flush out with plain water. Otherwise I find both types of ink thoroughly unproblematic and easy to flush if not dried, but would not use any pigmented ink in a pen that does not cap securely and tightly to prevent drying out.
