Parker Super Quink with Solv-X

I have a large bottle of the above ink which I believe dates to the seventies, when it cost the princely sum of thirty-seven and a half pence. It appears to be in good condition. I use quite a few vintage inks but I have hesitated about using this one. What do you think? Is Solv-X harmful?

It’s fine. I use vintage Quink all the time. Solv-X is just some marketing bullshit. Someone on FPN once said it was a combination of phenol and a surfectant.

I don’t know why there’s all this Fear Uncertainty and Doubt concerning Quink . Parker Superchrome/ 51 ink is definitely bad stuff that should never be put in a pen and Parker Penman inks can be problematic, but Quink is just regular, no-nonsense fountain pen ink.

Parker Blue or Blue-Black Quink with Solv-X is frequently recommended by several fountain pen users as a well known "cleaning ink" for stained converters or barrels.
I have some and have regularly used it myself although I don't have any vintage pens with rubber sacs.
