So far I've tried Noodler's Heart of Darkness, X-Feather, and Black. For blackness sake, the Black seems blackest. The Black doesn't seem to hurt my pens but I tend to not keep any one ink in any of my pens longer than a month without a good cleaning.
I'm cleaning several pens now to play with the bottle of ESSRI I got yesterday with a 1.1 and 1.5 stub. I know it's not totally black but watching it change from a blue to a bluish-black in 15 seconds is fun and it dries much faster than Noodler's Black.

I rather like Pilot blue-black.

I probably would, too. The Pilot/Namiki Black is working very nicely so far in a cheap demonstrator.

Yes, reviving this old thread with a specific black ink question:
To my horror, I am out of Lamy Black ink carts, and though I ordered more, they won't arrive for weeks. I want to use a Lamy Safari, and am now convinced it's best to stick with the ink of the penmaker. But in the meantime, which inks work best in a Lamy Safari with EF nib?
I have JH, Monteverde, Diamine, MB, Pelikan, Quink, and Namiki blacks on hand.
Thanks. 😊
