Default Recommendations for a DRY dark blue?

I'm looking for a dark blue (blue-black?) or dark teal which is drier than Diamine inks.

Colour and shading similar to Diamine Twilight would be perfect, I like that ink so much but my current EDC is a Faber-Castell M nib which is too wet for my taste with that ink.

So, I'm looking for a drier one. The Twilight is like a very dark teal, which is perfect for everyday use: not a boring pure blue or black, but still usable for office or official forms.

    Any recommendations?

I was thinking in any of the KWZ (Baltic Memories or Walk over Vistula) but I think those KWZ ARE pretty wet too...

Rohrer and Klingner Salix. It is an iron gall ink and is really well-behaved, on all kinds of paper. It is drier than Diamine Twilight. It is good value-for-money.

Thanks, I'll look for it in my usual "dealers"

Any precautions about using an iron gall ink? Never used any before...

R&K IG inks are fairly tame and will not need special precautions beyond the normal pen hygiene.

Found in one of the local (this country) shops, and they said "fountain pen friendly, just flush at least every 4 weeks"

I like the color too, I'll give it a try, thank you for the recommendation!

ESSRI - It's the driest ink I own. Not wet. Fast-drying even with a broad nib. Bluish-blackish depending on paper.

Having tried it in several pens, I like it more and more. It's currently in an Ahab, a Knox Plato (smallish pen for pocket carry), and a Waterman Phileas medium nib.

Appears like an old-fashioned ink with nice slight shading and flexing in the Ahab.

I am a fan of darker inks for my tastes. I have a bottle of Apache Sunset that will never be used up unless I spill it.

I like Salix recommended above, but the Califolio non-IG inks are also pretty dry. Baikal, Bleu Equinoxe, Bonne Esperance, Bosphore, Botany Bay, Byzance, Oconto, Ohlanga & Oliphants are all dark blues.

Dry is a vague term, but both blue and blue-black are very, very far from black in terms of wetness, so I would not generalize about Aurora inks.

Noodler's Bad Belted Kingfisher and Heron are on the dry side in my experience....and are bullet proof..
Kyo-No-Oto inks are also on the dry side.....Kyo-no-oto Aonib/Kyo Iro - Soft Snow of Ohara are similar to Twilight....... They are pricey though
I believe Pelikan are too, but have no personal experience.....

Noted. I only have their black ink and blue ink, and Aurora black is practically infamous. I keep Aurora blue in a Triumph Vac-Fill XF because that pen needed a "wet" ink, but I'll take a closer look at the blue by loading it into my Connaisseur stub and see how it behaves. Is their blue-black about the same as the blue (other than hue)?

Pelikan 4001 Blue-Black. Gorgeous, very traditional, classic ink.

No, their Blue-Black is drier than Blue. Their Blue ink isn't really dry (rather dryish) but not wet either (while black is very, very wet). Blue has got a good flow though - one of those nice inks flowing well not due to excessive wetness. If somebody is looking for a dryish dark blue it is a good pick (unless a bone dry ink is needed).

This shows how different inks, used in different pens, on different papers appear to different people. I find Noodler Bad Blue Heron wet regardless of the pen. It's the only Noodler ink I have relegated to the 'trade as soon as possible' drawer. The color isn't bad, it's the wetness and feathering. I also have Apache Sunset in that drawer but that's because I don't like the color.

I'm getting R&K Salix as I like IG inks and at least once a month clean all my inked pens.
    Cheers.

I’m not sure what the name of this Noodler’s dark blue is, but it’s Q something I think. It seems to be pretty dry

    Noodler's Q 'ternity

I believe it's part of Bernanke Series. They are supposed to be fast drying inks....

Yeah, I'm going to second this. The black and the blue-black are very wet writers. So wet, in fact, I literally can't use them in my vintage pelikans without leaving literal pools of ink on the page.

    https://www.gouletpens.com/products/...oz-bottled-ink

it IS (as correctly pointed out above) Part of the Bernanke series of inks
they ARE fast drying inks (you can watch it sink into the paper the way Parker Superchorme/"51" apparently did)
1-2 second drying time with a Wing Sung 601 nib on Rhodia Web Notebook paper.

I have a bottle, and i like it quite a bit.

    My notes on it include:
Colour: i personally LOVE this colour but 10 of my 34 bottles of ink are blue blacks... YMMV
    Shading: low/Nil
    Saturation: Very Good
Feathering: yes, especially with wider wet nibs (shaking the hell out of the bottle before filling the pen does help mitigate this)
Spread: some, worse on cheaper papers
    Cleaning from a pen: Easy
Bleed: yes if heavily applied to a page, even Rhodia web notebook paper will bleed through, but we're talking like 6mm pilot parallels and multiple passes level of application here
Waterproof: very good results. not PERFECT but very good.

best colour match to my bottle I have been able to find online is this one:
    https://stationaryjourney.com/noodle...ity-ink-review
mine certainly does NOT look like the goulet swatch.

let us know what you end up with and how you like it!
