Ink Review: Diamine Communication Breakdown (Germany Exclusive)
Today I'm reviewing Diamine Communication Breakdown ink
This is a mid red ink with green sheen specially made for the German market and is available in 80ml glass or 30ml plastic bottles from either Fountainfeder or Papier & Stift
It wrote nicely wet with excellent flow on my coated papers and lubrication at the nib tip felt very smooth. I tried it in a Montblanc 147 with EF nib that I have always felt a bit too fine for my taste, but it wrote really nicely with Communication Breakdown ink.
Communication Breakdown is a reasonably saturated ink and might show through on some cheaper papers. It didn't show through enough to prevent me from writing on the reverse of any of the papers I used.
The green sheen is more noticeable when writing on smooth papers with pens that have broader, wetter nibs.
- Flow Rate: Excellent - nicely wet.
- Lubrication: Very good - smooth.
- Nib Dry-out: Not noticed.
- Start-up: Immediate.
- Saturation: Reasonably saturated.
- Shading Potential: Shading shows up better on absorbent papers.
- Sheen: Green sheen noticeable with some pen/paper combinations.
- Show-Through:
- Hobonichi Techo
- Maruman Mnemosyne pad
- Rhodia DotPad
- Tomoe River 52gsm paper
- Tomoe River 68gsm paper
- Spread / Feathering / Woolly Line: Not seen.
- Nib Creep / “Crud”: Not seen, even after over 1 week in the pen.
- Staining (pen): Easy to clean with warm water.
- Staining (hands): It took one hand wash to get my fingers clean.
- Clogging: Not seen. Seems unlikely.
- Water resistance: Not sold as waterproof and shows no water resistance.
