I feel sorry for you if you are now going to see my hand in any new member who shows a little bit of personality. I feel sorrier for them if they have to put up with you criticising them for it.

I'm finding this Ignore setting doubles as a Warning setting. It's like a yellow-tape and saw-horse barricade around a open cesspool that constantly bubbles and emits noxious gas. Get too close and you're enveloped by stench.

Thanks again for letting me know about the setting Deb. The air is much sweeter today.

    Cheers,
    Sg

E_o_C is continuing to behave in this way because he knows he isn't going to be kicked out. The lack of oversight here is a wonderful thing but it can always be abused, as it is at this moment.

    Don't feed the troll.

OP: thank you for asking this question, i has no idea this extremely useful function existed!

    Very useful function.

Glad I’m not the only one! This should greatly increase my overall mood and enjoyment of the forum!

Fascinating. I didn't know there was an "ignore" function on this forum. However the person discussed here as offensive has made me wonder about if there was one. As I've said previously, I long ago decided to not look at any thread he started, and I just don't read comments he posts. I have read what he is saying in this thread, and it makes me think of my prison experience.

I worked in state prisons for 10 years, doing education and personal counseling. Doing that you quickly learn why we have prisons -- people there are slow learners when it comes to social skills. Despite the entire society repeatedly telling them they need to reform, they continue to think they are right and everyone else is wrong and against them. That's what I see in the person in question in this thread. He is continually told he is not behaving correctly, yet he rejects that and claims everyone else is wrong and against him.

The ignore function, I guess, is like a form of prison here. The decent people can lock you away if you don't conform to norms of this little community.

I've never liked prisons, but I have always agreed with our need to have them. Some folks are slow learners (and some are simply incorrigible).

Such hyperbole when it's just a handful of people. Still, you'll find a way of justifying it that massages your ego.

Don't forget to add aliases to the ignore list, too. They seem to be used when things get too uncomfortable.

I think this thread lead to nowhere.

The people who want to know how to handle the ignore feature know it now.

Everybody is free to ignore whoever he/she wants.

Everything else is unnecessary and if the board would have an admin this thread would have been stopped quite a lot of posts above.

So let’s stop here, that we can put our attention again to other things.

Yes, the phantom friend excuse. Little kiddies love it. They make up a fake identity and figure the adults will never notice. I note that it was popular with both my dogs and cats. It was never THEIR fault.

That really reminds me of someone holding a high political position in the US.

Goodness! My caution about aliases has prompted a flood of them today! Even replying to one another. One would think there's better things to do.

    Imho this is complete nonsense.

The mind of kids is amazing, open minded and ready to learn.
As older we get as narrow minded most of us become.

That's really and profoundly untrue. Perhaps you've had limited experience with the little ones. They are not open minded...LOL!! Try dividing Gold Fish among three 4 year olds.

I did not really want to participate in this bashing thread, now I already regret it.....

I have a son and also other kids in my greater family.
And I know also how difficult it is to deal with Oldtimers, no comparison..... always would choose the kids.

Anyway I think EOC has left and the gang of concrete heads won.

    Congratulations.

This is my last post in this thread.
