Click on Settings top right, then find Edit Ignore list under My Settings > My Account in the left hand column. Add a name to it or delete one from it.

Edited to mention that "Empty_of_Clouds" replied to Deb's original question assuming that he was the person that she was referring to. Then he deleted his original reply and the thread continuation looks a bit odd because of that fact.

Actually maturity and common decency. The ignore button is the modern version of sending the individual to the kiddie table.

There was a time when I tried to work out why people might want to be argumentative and difficult in a place that is meant to be educational, enjoyable, entertaining and interesting.

There has been two people that I thought 'this person just needs some understanding, they need a friend', this was a mistake, a huge mistake.

I now understand that people behave in the way that they do because they want to be difficult and confront others whenever there is an opportunity.

I owe it to myself to make full and justified use of the Ignore key, it improves the quality of the FPG browsing as there is a certain unmissable pleasure in skimming past a post of an Ignored member which exceeds any benefit that I might obtain from reading it.

Ah, so lack of patience

I feel like we probably have a lot of overlap in our political outlook (I'll leave that vague), we share several interests (vintage pens, calligraphy etc.)
I find you are intelligent and articulate and I even agree with some of the things you say.

& yet, I find your presence and behavior here almost unbearable. You ruin everything with your cycle of self pity and combativeness.

As for patience, I am actually quite surprised how much patience people here have shown you.

This is the key phrase, there is much evidence of a long term need to be objectionable and argumentative which appears to be accelerating.

I was thinking this AM about freedom of speech. Of course, it does not apply to forums. It's common for someone who wants to exercise speech freedom to recoil when that same freedom is exercised toward them. I think we need to realize that if we choose to speak our minds, we also have to our words and suffer either the accolades or displeasure from others.

Yeah, I've lost count of the number of times you (Chrissy) have been nasty to me when I've been exploring language and narratives, bordered on bullying a newer member in one thread for daring to write with an accent, generally acted like you were the style police, not to mention the excruciatingly tedious ink reviews. However, to me, that doesn't preclude the fact that on occasion you may have something helpful to add to a conversation, and is why you (and several other members who I find pathologically closed-minded) are not on my Ignore List. In my world information is valuable. Cutting oneself off from the possibility of receiving useful information... not that smart.

You are so angry that you outed yourself without even being aware that you've done it. Many of us already know it wasn't a newer member. Just a new ID from someone who admits he likes "exploring language and narratives." We all know you were also born a Brit. You've already told us that fact. More bullshit. I don't just read threads that I am involved in. I do read other people's stuff. That guy joined this year (end of last year?). I've posted quite a bit this year. You going to go and persecute him now with your delusions? I mentioned the other guy because I noticed that you had a go at him in a similar way that you did and continue to do with me.
