Default Is there a difference between Waterman Black and Intense Black?

I found a 15-year-old unopened bottle of Waterman Black ink in my closet today.

Is there a difference between it and the now current Intense Black?

    Thanks.

I've posted similar questions about their blue and brown inks, and the answers are always yeah, probably.

The labels and boxes change color and graphics, but the bottles look the same. Do both your bottles read Made in France on the bottom?

There is a font of speculation on the pen forums about who makes ink for whom (especially the Germany-Austria connection), but no one ever seems to post dispositive information about ink factories, their specific whereabouts and what labels they manufacture ink for.

The box wasn't there but it has Made in France on the bottle bottom. I've tried it in a couple of pens and depending on the pens it seems somewhat darker than Noodler Black.

    Easy flowing ink.

Maybe. But i have a bunch of bottles of Sheaffer Skrip and Parker Quink that are just fine after ~75 years.

It depends how it is stored. If it is kept away from light, and the seal is airtight, it can last for decades. I have bottles that, while not as old as guyy's, work fine after 30-odd years.
    Vintage. Cursive italic. Iron gall.

No difference between any of the old named colours and the new names. Only the bottles are different.

    Thanks. Marketing strategies, I assume.

By the way, have you ever reviewed ESSRI? I'd be interested to hear what you think of it. I'm using it now in a couple of pens.

    Thanks.

    You're welcome.
No I've never reviewed ESSRI and don't have any. I'm not a great fan of Blue-Black inks and would never use an IG ink by choice. If I need a waterproof ink there are plenty around. That said I have Diamine Registrar's Ink to review, but keep putting it off in order to review other inks.

I rather like the ESSRI color. Looks old-fashioned particularly when written with a broad or italic. I tend to like darker colors and shades.

I wouldn't use it in a sac pen, but I have it in a couple of easy to clean pens - An Ahab and a 1.1 stub Knox Plato. Drys quickly and isn't wet but still with the Ahab gives nice 'flex' lines.

    Thanks Chrissy.

Ink manufacturing seems to be a well preserved industry secret. I tried to dig the internet in various languages, but so far no results.
Who knows what mistery do they keep from our enquiring minds?
