No apology necessary, Jon. You are perfectly free to trip the light fantastic to your heart's content; I shall watch on in my usual bafflement, s'all.

Of course, now anyone who hasn't read the other topic will be equally baffled about the mention of fish. We are on the cusp of a turn about the dance floor ourselves.

A little bit of pedantry here: the only filling system that can be accurately described as an Aerometric is the Parker one with a breather tube and a Pli-Glass sac - it's a trade name. The very simple pen that draws ink into the barrel with a short piece of sac and no breather tube is a bulb filler. I don't know if there is a specific name for the more efficient filler made by Langs or Platignum that added a breather tube to the basic bulb filler.

That's nothing. Yesterday I transposed my pants.

Of course, looking at it now it's so obvious. Thanks for letting me know!

Many of my (somewhat) vintage-y Chinese pens are bulb fillers. Some also have breather tubes.

    They're fun to fill.

But we also did at least one bulb-filler modification of a five-dollar, beater Sheaffer Triumph-nib vac-filler.

And yes. I get paid by the paragraph and hyphen.
My other pen is a Montblanc.

Interesting video on how to make your own bulb filler using a cartridge and sac.

I've done this before, I still got it in my ink case.

Though I am more curious as to why some modern companies are using latex sacs for their pens, like the modern Eversharp Decoband uses a latex sac. Despite that we have a lot of high alkaline inks in the market (even among some notable 'high end' brands), which are perfectly fine for most modern c/c and piston filling pens these days, but will attack latex sacs, and doesn't seem to be a warning about that when you get the pen, other than to use their own specific brand of inks, or to stick to "fountain pen" inks (which the high alkaline ones are).

At least the aerometric style ones are using either silicone or PVC (more likely PVC depending on cost of the pen, or if gas permeability is a problem with the design).

I did that few years ago for a Kakuno, and then realised the barrel had holes in the end - et voila! A blow filler!

Might it be this one? I was looking for salvage options for an Imperial II the other day (no cap and two cracks at the knob end of the barrel, but a lovely oblique stub nib) and ran across it.

    I remember that — ingenious!

Thanks for finding that, catbert - I'd forgotten all about that post. Happier days when I had time to keep a journal.

I remember it because it was such an elegant solution.

As for keeping a journal — more time at home could mean more time to spend with pens, ink and paper. (It's worked so far for me, at least. )
