Default Serenity Blue: Cartridge vs Bottle

Has anyone experienced these being a completely different color?

Waterman Serenity cartridges seem to come out a little purplish with incredible shading. When I fill the same pens with the Bottled serenity it's much more blue with very little shading.

    It's driving me crazy.

I've never compared the two. With everything going on in the world, frankly, I wouldn't be letting something like that make me nuts. My guess is either the carts and bottled ink are done in different facilities, or that there has been a small amount of evaporation from the carts to cause a darker ink. Also, is it possible that the carts are older stock? Some things can sit around for a while and formulas might have changed. This is all just off the top of my head, as I haven't done a direct comparison.

Could it be due to loss of ink volume as happens with old unused cartridges?

That was my thought, though I might not have expressed it very well.

Of course you did. I might not have read it very well. ;-)

Thanks guys. And Jon, you're very right, much bigger problems out there. But, sometimes you have to focus on the small stuff you can change, to distract you from the the horroble state of everything else you can't.

Indeed. It was a light-hearted comment, and I agree.

Any differences I've seen between the bottle and cartridge could easily be explained by differences in pens/nibs. In other words, I haven't noticed much, if any difference.

I found some decade+ old waterman blue carts, about half evaporated, and the color was really cool, man, and not at all like the bottled color (which I also like quite a lot.)

also I was wondering if ducks burp, and when it's a bad smelling burp, does the nearby duck notice and do they get mad, like, dude what the hell?

A very good point. Isn't that what we usually do here?

I bought some cartridges of Waterman Blue Obsession (formerly South Seas Blue and currently Inspired Blue) about a year ago that wrote much darker than other cartridges (also labeled Blue Obsession) that I later bought elsewhere.
