Default I don’t like black ink anymore.

I’ve managed to ink up about 22 pens in various blue inks (the exceptions being a Kaweco Art Sport with Kaweco Green and a Brown Swirl M200 with GvFC Hazelnut Brown).

Anyway, I have an old Pelikan DM nib (I think I got from Fred Rydr) that I transplanted into an old M200/M400 feed assembly; and installed in a different M200. What ink?!?! I started with Lamy black. Too “watery”, so I switched to Pelikan black. Then it dawned on me. I don’t like black ink anymore.

I guess it’s from having to use black for everything “official” at work. Fill out a form? Black ink only. Signature block on a memorandum? Black ink only. *sigh*

Anybody want some black ink? lol

You're a little too late. I recently went on a black ink kick and bought nearly every black there is. I should have gone for samples.
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

If you want to trade that Pelikan black for some ESSRI, Chesterfield Archival Vault, Pilot blue-black, Namiki Blue, Diamine Oxblood, or a nearly-full bottle of J. Herbin "Cornaline d'Egypte," please let me know. As you know, I typically stick with blue-blacks but I think I may end up needing a bottle of black besides the ill-behaved Heart of Darkness

Dreck - I would, but the Pelikan black is also used by she who must be obeyed.

Nevermind. I withdraw my request. No way I'm stepping into that. Happy wife, happy life, right? There's a reason I call mine "The Princess."

I too prefer blue-blacks, and my favourite is Pelikan 4001. However, I have 4001 Brillian Black in a M101N, Noodler's Bulletproof Black in a Konrad and Heart of Darkness in a Boston Safety Pen. Not bad combinations.

I only have one black ink—Noodler's Bulletproof Black, currently sitting in my Platinum Prefounte. I've found it to be a good combo and the fine line helps against the cheap paper of this country.

That said, I agree with you. I don't find black inks all that fascinating. I might get Noodler's Heart of Darkness, but that's only because I've been using better paper myself and Bulletproof Black doesn't like that paper as much.

I really like black inks. At last count I have:

    Pelikan 4001
    Herbin Perle Noir
    Parker Quink
    Penman Ebony
    MB Black
    Sheaffer Skrip
    Lamy
    Aurora
    Sailor
    Noodlers bulletproof

Please don't ask about purple inks. Or blue inks. Or blue-black....

I seem to have an inkish problem...

I don't use black ink. My husband was a registrar of births, deaths and marriages and had to use indelible black for all the paperwork. He won't use black now. We both like blue-black.

I'm with you there and also don't use black ink. I'm not a fan of black ink at all. I'm not all that keen on grey ink either.

Since discovering Serenity Blue, I haven't gone back to Waterman black. Blue is unique and easy on the eyes. I tried and gave away the purple.

Office policy required blue ink in a past life. So except for Montblack Mystery black cartridges in my MB Classique, and Dark Matter in a 146, it's blue.

I am on a blue/black kick now. What are some good one? I have Edelstein Tanzanite, and Noodler’s 54th Mass. I use mostly European EF and F nibs, so these look black mostly.

How do you distinguish between original and photocopies?

    Blue-Blacks I use:
Pilot Blue/black is a Top Five ink. Outstanding in any Pilot pen.
Waterman Mysterious Blue is a Top Five ink.

I like the two you use also.

Iroshizuku Shin-Kai is one I'm getting to know. I like it.

    good luck!

I like black inks and that's usually what I use.

Waterman Mysterious Blue is wonderful. Behaves similarly to serenity blue. Not true blue black, more like a dark blue. I've been using it excluviely for work for the last several weeks in my Hemisphere.

In a very wet, vintage pen, Diamine Twilight is a great color of blue black. It seems to be an insanely dry ink though. So in anything but the wettest pens it kind of sucks, imo. I have been using it in my Vacumatic with the OR nib.

I've only used samples of Lamy Blue Black a couple times but it seemed nice. I've also used samples of Diamine Registrar's Blue Black (IG) and liked it.

The blue blacks that I use regularly include: Diamine Registrars, KWZ IG Blue Black, KWZ IG Blue #3 (goes down blue, dries blue black), R&K Salix (goes down blue, dries blue black/grey), Hero IG #232, Akkerman #10 IJzer-Galnoten, and Montblanc's original IG BLue Black. All of these behave superbly.
