My first gold-nibbed pen was a Sailor 1911 with a 21K broad nib. I ordered it from Japan, and had only had it for a few days when it rolled off a tabletop, uncapped, and did a nosedive onto a hardwood floor. It landed, of course, nib-first, and the impact bent it like a dog's hind leg. I ended up shipping it off to Mike Masuyama in L.A., and when it came back it wrote about a million times better than it had out of the box, and looked brand new. It is one of my favorite writers, and I have kept it inked continuously ever since.

Pelikan M250 with OM nib at 17 then a MB 146 with B nib before that changed to OB at 23. That nib style has been on the subsequent MBs too....
