Nakaya Matte Black Hairline

People who buy a Nakaya from me often comment about how much better the pens look in person than in pictures on line. For that reason I usually save my "extra" Nakayas to sell at a few shows per year, but with it looking like there may not be any shows for a while, several customers have asked me to begin posting some here.

Take your pick from two great Nakayas in their fascinating Matte Black Hairline finish, both just ready for your writing and collecting pleasure. The pens are of course ebonite, with coats of urushi brushed to a light texture that provides a nice warm lightly textured feel in your hand that is quite different from Nakaya’s glossy Tamenuri finishes. The nibs on both pens are 14K gold ruthenium plated Extra Broad Left Foot Oblique that provide plenty of line variation. Like all Nakayas and many/most Japanese pens, the pens are cartridge converter filled.

The Naka ai Writer on left measures approximately 148 mm long capped and 133 mm long uncapped, while the Portable Cigar on right measures approximately 148 mm capped and 130 mm long uncapped. Note that the Naka ai on left is a relatively recent piece, as evidenced by the name “Nakaya” on nib and newer design feed while the Portable on right is an older piece, showing the previous “Nakata” on nib and original design feed. These Nakaya gems have been very lightly used and are complete with boxes, kimono, and unused box of cartridges.

~JJ is correct. The original post I made was in 2020. I do still have many many Nakayas available, and I will have about 70 on my table at the Ohio Pen Show in a few weeks.

While the two pens in my original post from 2020 were sold, anyone interested in Nakayas is certainly welcome to contact me.
