Default I need a Parker 45 Barrel Liner (or Inner)

    Hi,

I have a Parker 45 whose liner is broken where it connects to the end-cap of the barrel. Here's an image I borrowed from Parker45pens.com, so you can see what I'm talking about:

    Parker-45-Flighter-Stripped-Labelled.jpg

Alternatively, does anyone know if the Moonman 80 has such a piece? I'm considering buying one and cannibalizing it.

    Thanks!

Where are you Alex, I am in England and the cost of mailing it to you may exceed the value of the part.

Well, if you are stuck I have a good 45, the same as in the pic, that I dont mind parting out or sending it to you as a complete pen but the mailing costs from the UK are crazy. Hold it in reserve and see if someone in the US has the part you need.

    Hi,

Thanks for your generous offer. How much is "crazy" in the UK? It might be worth taking you up on it.

You would probably be better off getting the complete new barrel than trying to source just a barrel liner. There were different types of barrel liners.

Parts are hard to find, complete pens especially when they are commonplace are so much easier.

You can buy a complete pen in the US for not much more than the cost of sending one from England

I appreciate this this auction is still running but here is a new Parker 45.

You could also do a Google search for Parker 45 Flighter barrel. Some pen sellers in the US that don't sell on ebay might sell this part.

Here is a Buy-it-Now P-45 Flighter from the UK. Cost with shipping is about $40, or $29 for the pen plus $11 shipping to US.

I have bought from that seller in the past.

I also spotted this Insignia version that doesn't look too shabby.

40 Euros for an Insignia...and no one bid?

I must admit that I don't usually look for p45s on ebay, I have just done so now to try and help the OP, the prices are so high compared to just 5 years ago. I sold a few 45s for between £10-20, all perfect. there was one sale where I sold a 45 flighter for £20 to a young man in Australia that I even sent a AUD10 bill because I had found it in my travel money and it wasnt worth converting.

That 40 euro Insignia was a steal, even in parts you would do very well.

I would have bid but I already have 2 Insignias and decided I didn't need another one. Maybe that was a poor decision?

IIRC the threads on the back end are a standard pitch. I have made a piece to go through the back end of the barrel for the end piece to screw onto. Don't ask me for details - it's been way too long (a decade or more) and I don't remember, but it can be done. I likely used a screw. Today I'd cut a thread and taper the end so that it forms a short plug in the back end - just leave room for the converter inside.

Ron that sounds like a great idea. I have a Parker 45 Flighter that I've relegated to the parts pile because it is missing the black tail off of the end of it's barrel as well as missing the gold plated clip screw off of the cap.
I thought that maybe one day I would have to buy a new barrel and a new clip screw, but until then it just sits there in the back of the drawer. If it's possible to just screw in a new tail as well as buy a new clip screw I could get it fixed and actually write with it.
