    Default Kaweco sport modification

I have a kaweco sport demonstrator, and am trying to substitute a new feed in for the stock one. Unfortunately, the black plastic part inside the section of the pen is too small to accommodate it. Is it possible to remove the plastic tube in which the feed sits in the kaweco? I think the actual clear plastic section without the black "bushing" would be the right size.

Thats the collar. It should pull or screw out, depending upon the model of the Sport.
    Vintage. Cursive italic. Iron gall.

You don't want to do that. The collar holds nib and feed together, makes it possible to easily change nib and feed, and has the piercing tube that the converter connects to. If the feed doesn't fit in the collar, it's the wrong feed. I would be surprised if the section didn't crack with the amount of pressure needed to make a nib and feed tight enough to keep the nib from shifting.

Why the substitution? If there's something wrong with the old one, new Kaweco nib assemblies are $10-12.

The nib Kaweco uses is a Bock 060. It's a #5 nib (5mm feed), but a unique size compared to the standard #5 most makers use. For Bock, the "standard" is a 180. Not sure what JoWo's equivalent is called.

A few older Sports do not have the removable collar. Just consider it "built-in" to the section and use the nib and feed without the collar. Most do have the collar, which can be a pain to remove if they've been screwed in really tight. The nib and feed are friction fit into them, and you can pull a new nib and feed out of the collar of a new assembly, and use whatever parts you need.

Ritual, please bear in mind that attempting to remove the collar and fitting a completely different, wrong sized, nib and feed into your Sport may not give you a decent ink flow, prevent you from using cartridges or a converter, and may at worst crack your section and ruin your pen.

The wisest thing to do would be to only use your alternate nib and feed inside a pen where it fits properly, and keep your original Kaweco nib and feed in your Sport pen.
