    Wink IDEA: Edible mission-directives...

Not necessarily a new idea...but one I thought would be funny.

Through this fountain pen journey during the pandemic, I came up with a formula for food dyes to yield a duplicate of my favorite ink "Diamine - Chocolate Brown".
The only drawback was that I had to use "Cross Fountain Pen Ink" for the black in order to darken the food-dye-mix from a "golden brown" to the needed "chocolate brown" color.
I know that black food dye is available...just not locally for me....will have to order it on amazon...then I can redo the "Chocolate-Brown Food-Dye ink" completely from edible ingredients!!!

    BUT...my idea is this...
Once I find some sort of paper that's edible that the fountain pens can write on...I CAN MAKE FULLY EDIBLE MESSAGES!!!

This is like....ancient "Mission Impossible" technology hahahahaha....once you accept your mission briefing letter...you can eat it!!
The enemy will never discover your motives!!
    Ahahahahahahahaa....

    (I think I'm losing it....)

Here is a pic of the food-dye "Chocolate" ink (Batch 2) in action after I made it and tested it in my Flex pen...this one was very dark.
Batch #3 had less black ink and was more brown.

To be absolutely honest I would just buy the ink.
Food colourings can contain all sorts of petroleum based products that I wouldn't put anywhere near any of my pens.
They are made in a lab with chemicals derived from petroleum, a crude oil product, which also happens to be used in gasoline, diesel fuel, asphalt, and tar. NPR.org: “Artificial food dyes are made from petroleum and approved for use by the FDA to enhance the color of processed foods.”

Cult Pens UK are selling Diamine inks with a 10% discount and they have a free shipping policy to the US. Not sure about the minimum spend though.
Diamine also sells their inks directly from their web-site.

If you find or make a sufficiently smooth thin flatbread, the kind that is usually called a "wrap", then that might work. You could carry different flavor pens, and write down what the seasoning is on the inside or outside of the wrap. A broad nib might work best.

I wouldn't really want chocolate flavoring on my chicken salad wrap, though. Do you think you could do a hot mustard ink?

Of course, if you're really writing secret messages on the inside of people's lunches, you would have to put some symbol on the outside so that they know to read before eating.

Isn't there some kind of soluble wafer paper used in candy making or some such that would be exactly what you are looking for?

I'm interested in if you are willing to share your recipe, I saw a video once about using food dye to make ink and I really like brown inks. I have noodlers brown #41 but wouldn't mind trying to make a different shade and I can use my noodlers borealis black for the black. Also do you have other recipes that you could share.

And I like the way you think with the edible messages, spy brain in action.

And if you want a golden color, keep that formula...but take away the 1 drop of black.
Gives a golden color that is just beauuuuuuutiful!

The inks used to print on birthday cakes, etc. are made with a soy based formula.
