Default Mystery Ink #30 and Mystery Ink #31

Well it looks like the first set of the Mystery Ink Series traveled well under my watch. Let's try again and hope the various Postal Services smile upon us!

As with any Mystery Ink it is open to FPG veterans, n00bs, newbies, and lurkers. You volunteer, I send free ink, you write with it and post your thoughts and observations. Guessing is welcome, but not required. There is nothing to "win" aside from perhaps personal satisfaction that you recognized it. No guess is confirmed until the mystery ink is finally revealed. The point of the mystery ink threads is an unbiased review. Fear not about the quality of your handwriting or sketching abilities. We don't care. We are all appreciative of those with the gift of artistic ability, but how well you draw or write doesn't impact your ability to test an ink and provide your opinion on it.

I will act as the Procurer, Packer, and Post Office Porter. This ink flight will consist of 1 packet containing 2 inks, each vial filled with 3mls of Mystery Ink labeled MI-30 and MI-31. There will be 10 packets available and only 2 of the packets will be for overseas participants due to the high cost of postage ( US$14.50/each ). If you are international, please let me know.

The inks in this ink flight are dye based, not pigmented, no shimmer and not iron gall. I don’t use any of the Noodler’s Bay State inks, so there won’t be any in the ink flights I send out.

Post below if you would like to volunteer to receive a free ink flight. I'll leave this open until 12 Noon PDT Thursday September 17th. International packets will post on Saturday September 19th and US packets will post on Wednesday September 23rd.

Covid-19 Precautions -- For everyone's safety, ink samples will be prepared using a face mask and gloves. Ink Packets will be put together with a face mask and freshly washed hands. ( Sorry, but it's impossible to use sticky tape with gloves on... )

Note: A sample ink packet was sent to an fpgeek member in the middle of the EU in early August to determine how long it would take to travel. Travel time was 13 calendar days, and travel to Great Britain and Canada was 8 to 10 calendar days. Current (September) travel times will vary.

Until then, stay Safe and Healthy.
    All the Best.

    Thank you junglejim.

I've participated in other mystery ink flights and would love to do so again if there is any availability for me to do so. However, I'm international so if there are others who want to participate then I'm happy to let them have a turn.

Thank you Junglejim, the same as Chrissy, I'd love to participate again but put anyone who hasn't done it before ahead of me on the list especially as I'm international too (GB).

I would love to participate, I had so much fun doing the few that I got to do in the past, but if there is someone who has never done one I don't want to take their spot.

I love that mystery ink is back!!!!

Thanks again for picking up and running the MI series!

I will be spectating eagerly and enthusiastically from the sidelines, since I already have lots and lots of ink samples I need to try out.

A most unselfish endeavour and considerable labour, junglejim; I thank you for it.

I am tempted to raise my hand, but I am also overseas and don't wish to jump queues just because I haven't done it before. If you could stick me in the hat with the international others and make it a simple case of luck of the draw, then I would like to participate.

    Good morning!

So far we have the following people who are interested in participating in this Ink Flight:

    USA: mreeveshp, tooth, Sailor Kenshin

    International: Chrissy, suzy01, Yazeh

The International slot(s) will be decided by a Random Number Generator pick.

We'll wait a few more days until Thursday to see if any one else wishes to sign-up.

    All the Best.

Both the International slots will be decided by a Random Number Generator pick, if you would, junglejim. I appreciate the generosity, but the pressure! Ack, I cannae take it!

It has been traditional in Mystery Ink that first time participants get preference over those of us who have already done a round. This is something I noted from previous notable ink-sharers who did the organizing, such as Laura N. back in 2014, Scooby921 back in 2016, and my predecessor azkid. Once a newcomer gets "initiated", they then take their chances with the RNG in future rounds. That is why so many people here have kindly offered up their chance for an ink slot, because they have participated in a previous round.

    Just a historical and traditional note. { "I do love traditions..." -- Emperor Valkorion from Star Wars the Old Republic }

    All the Best.

Hadn't allowed for tradition and only raised my hand on condition it would be a fair draw. Oh dear.

Never mind, it turns out to be a moot point as events have evented and about the time any ink would land here I'm likely to be up to my neck in Life and will not be able to give them the attention they deserve. In consequence I shall have to withdraw my name from the list.

I'm honored and beyond excited to participate in the Inky Mysteries, I just hope I'm up to the challenge of giving an adequate description. Being new to all this I don't have the vocabulary or frame of reference you pros do, but I'll do my best!
