I guess itˋs time to think about guessing the mystery inks.

Let me start with a guess for MI#31.

    Difficult.......

Looking at comparable orange inks my eye was caught by a limited edition ink.
I looked at the online available reviews and pictures and I think it could fit MI#31.

    My guess for MI#31 is:

    Aurora Orange

From their 100th year anniversary set.

And to complete my cycle I place also a guess for MI#30.

    My guess:

    Franklin Christoph Tenebris Purpuratum

I really liked both inks, especially #30. The orange not as much, I prefer Apache Sunset, as it has more red in it.....
But both inks were very well behaved, and despited applying liberally with brush, there was no bleed through.....
#31 has a gold sheen. I would guess either Japanese or Korean ink.... (Mainly Sailor or Colorverse).
I loved that the inks were complimentary colours.....

I tried some drawings. I had fun doing them, but I am not yet able to create, what I imagine.....
Yet I'll post one on Rhodia

    Mystery 30 +Scabiosa 2.jpg

and here's a little poem, inspired by the season and the colours....on TR

I just wanted to show off the slight gold sheen on Midori for #30.
In my haste, I wrote 31 instead of 30...

I have good news, my father was able to come home today but he still has to go back in a couple weeks for another stent, I will have to take care of both him and my mother for a good while but I'm hoping since I'm home to rush and get some testing done with mystery ink 31.

If anyone can give me a guide on the best way to do an ink swatch I would really appreciate it.

And again I'm very sorry I wasn't able to participate as much as everyone else. Hopefully if I get chosen for the next round I will be able to participate as much as I did in the past.

    Stay safe and healthy everyone

I'm glad of the good news.

    Swatches
I use Q-Tip to make an ink swatch. Dip it in the ink. Then onto the col-o-ring.
If not the paper you use regularly...

Good luck and stay safe .

    Good Morning!

It's now time for the ink reveal of our two Mystery Inks!

Mystery Ink #30 is another German ink called DeAtramentis Alexander Hamilton ( and also goes by the name of DeAtramentis Aubergine ). When "Hamilton: the American Musical" by Lin-Manuel Miranda became a hit, this ink immediately sold out and was unavailable for a long time. I like it as an example of what I consider a 'true' purple.

    Link: https://vanness1938.com/collections/...lton-aubergine

Mystery Ink #31 is another American boutique ink made by Papier Plume and is called Sazerac, part of their New Orleans Collection of inks. It is a light orange color that was developed to mimic the color of the Official Cocktail of New Orleans, where Papier Plume is located. Sazerac is the oldest cocktail that has its origins in the United States. As Ptero has shown, I favor Sazerac for its shading properties when used with a wide, wet nib such as a broad or italic Pilot Custom Heritage 912 that Gena Salorino ground for me.

Well, that's it for now. I would like to thank all of you who participated in this Mystery Ink session and hope you all had fun with it! I have already picked out the two colors for MI #32 and #33 and have set them aside. I still don't know when the announcement will be due to the situation with the airlines here in the US. I will continue to monitor what is going on and will let everyone know at a later time.

Take care and may you all stay Safe and Healthy.

    All the Best.

Thanks a lot Jim for being our game master/host.

It was a pleasure to participate in this round, I really enjoyed testing and using these inks.

It was also a premiere for me as I never used a Papierplume ink before (and it was a good, very well behaving one).

Thank you very much junglejim. It was a pleasure.
I have a sample of De Atramentis Aubergine, and remember thinking it was quite wet.

My most recently two inked pens used Noodlers Apache Sunset (orange) and Akkerman #4 (it looks purple when wet but dries to a blue) in recognition of Halloween. Unfortunately, Apache Sunset isn't behaving like its normal self with this nib and Akkerman #4 ended up being much more blue than purple (my fault for not realizing #4 is a royal blue and not a purple). I wish I used the mystery inks from this thread, especially DeAtramentis Alexander Hamilton. I don't have many purple or orange inks in my collection but will consider adding either MI next time I make an order.

I'm so sorry I'm late with mi 31,i was able to test it but I've been having trouble with accessing the forum. I'm finally back in. Thank you so much Junglejim for the opportunity to try these inks. I think I preferred the orange one just because I love the colour here is my drawing with and without a watery brush over the top:

Thanks again to junglejim...I'm not surprised to learn #31 is a PP ink. I have a few, and they tend to do better in really wet pens.

I think I may have had Aubergine once, as a sample. It's a very nice medium purple.
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

I've still been real busy helping my father so hes not stressing his body too much and helping my mother since she can't do much on her own having late stage dementia so I still haven't been able to ink a pen up but was able to do swatches of #31 and noodlers habanero and I would have guessed it would have been closer but as you can tell the habanero is a darker orange.

Again I'm very sorry I haven't been participating like every one else has been hopefully if I get chosen again I can make it up to everyone.

    Stay safe and healthy

P.S. I realized after i wrote it on the paper that I spelled habanero wrong but thought it was kind of funny to change
