Default Ink Review: Pilot Iroshizuku tsuyu-kusa (Asiatic Dayflower)

Pilot Iroshizuku tsuyu-kusa is a bright blue ink that translates from Japanese to Asiatic Dayflower. It leans less purple than asa-gao.

Tsuyu-kusa flowed very well through my pens and felt nicely lubricated when writing across the page. Not at all scratchy. I felt it flowed quite wet. I saw some nice shading and you might occasionally see a slight red sheen in a heavy blot on coated papers.

I didn’t notice any skips or hard starts when I put the uncapped pen down to do swab tests, dry times and water resistance. I didn’t see any feathering on the papers I wrote on.

Available in attractive Pilot Iroshizuku 50ml glass bottles and 15ml small bottles worldwide.

    • Start-up: Immediate.
    • Nib Dry-out: Not noticed.
    • Nib Creep / “Crud”: Not seen.
    • Staining (pen): Not seen after several days - easy clean-up.
    • Staining (hands): It took two hand washes before my fingers were clean.
    • Clogging: Not seen.
    • Water resistance: Not sold as waterproof and water resistance is low.
