    Default Kreuzer Piston Filler

Another entry in my restoration notes / journal:

This German piston filler is from a brand that I never heard of. Kreuzer (translated into "Cruiser" in English).

Made out of celluloid (or at least it feels the same as my Montblanc 344G which is celluloid) with a curious striated ink window. As in most cases, the old cork has gone dry and brittle, it can no longer help the pen to draw and retain ink.

One standout feature is the cap. It's very nicely made, and quite heavy. Maybe silver, although I can't find any STERLING or 925 markings anywhere.

The nib unit is very well made, it screws out like Pelikan. Oh and it writes in a nice F. German Fine, not Japanese.

I'll probably do a review and sketch later on, since this is the repair sub-forum.

Glue? Are there no vestiges of threads on the rod?

Nope, completely smooth, with, of course, remnants of glue from the old cork.

In other German piston filler, there usually a "cap" or "stopper" that is either glued or threaded to the end of the piston, so the cork won't slide off. Not on this one.

Did the piston simply carry on screwing out or did it need some sort of a tool like Montblanc?

And here's what the cap finial looks like.

PS: From what I gather, this is probably their high-end model, other info about Kreuzer turned up plastic pens with steel nibs.
