Question Giving service to a Sheaffer Quasi Imperial 444

    Hey, geeks! <3

My dad recently gave me a Quasi Imperial 444 and I wanted to give it a good flush before using it (it's been there without use for so long),
but I am clueless as to how to remove the feed, I cannot find any videos on YouTube is it even possible to remove?

    Thanks in advance!
    xx

I am by no means an expert on Sheaffer pens but I believe the cleaning of a 444 does not involve removing the feed. These are cartridge converter pens that only need a good flushing. This video shows how to do it:

Yup, do not try to remove the nib or feed.

Patience is your friend. Get a glass with cool water and a drop of detergent. Drop pieces parts in water.

    Replace water every day.

Repeat until no more ink coming out.

Remember it took decades for all the ink in there to dry and harden; it will take far less time to get it out. But it will take time.

You don't remove the nib - it is embedded in the plastic of the shell by tabs at each corner. There is no non-destructive way to do it. The thread bushing has to be removed to gain access to the feed. The thread bushing is held in by an adhesive/sealant, that has to be softened with heat. Too little, and the shell can crack. Too much, and you'll melt the shell. If soaking and flushing don't do it, send the pen to someone who can do it.
