I just received my pen back from Gena Salorino of Custom Nib Studio. The nib is much improved. It has feedback but isn’t scratchy and it lays ink in all directions consistently. Communications with Gena were great and the entire process was easy. I can definitely recommend her.

Thank you, everyone, for your help!

The Feathertouch #5 is an underrated classic. They have just a little "give" to them. They write smoothly but aren't "numb" like a rollerball pen might be. The large Lifetime nibs have overshadowed them, but the Feathertouch #5 is an excellent choice for someone who wants a "vintage" feel when writing.

Here are photos of the nib after returning from Gena. I immediately noticed that the nib was bent slightly down. The alignment is better and it now writes smoothly in all directions. The slit has a better geometry than it did before. It is a wee bit soft; it doesn’t feel like a nail yet it isn’t flexible either. I think this is the nib not Gena. Some tipping material appears to have been removed to correct for how it was writing previously.
