Default Montblanc 146G piston sleeve loose

    Hello,

I have a montblanc 146G in Green Celluloid with the Telescopic Piston. When the piston is extended the piston sleeve seems to come loose and disengage thus preventing the piston from being retracted. If the sleeve is held in place with while working the mechanism, the piston extends and retracts as it should. Does anyone have any idea how to potentially repair this so that the sleeve stays on track and allows the piston to be extended and retracted correctly?146 Piston.PNG

I highly recommend Francis Goossens as repair person when it comes to problems with Montblancs telescopic piston mechanics. He is specialist in this.

Can highly recommend Francis, as well. I've had multiple vintage and modern pens restored by him; every filling system from a wide variety of brands. Even when it seems unfixable, he makes a way. What a guy !!!

I seem to recall that there should be a bridging piece across that guide slot in the thinnest metal piece, and that it sometimes breaks. Francis repaired one of these before IIRC, so definitely the way to go.

    Hi mcannad 1
It looks the anti-rotation notch the filler housing broke off.
This can surely be repaired but implies the disassembly of the filler.
On the sketch below you can see the construction details of the telescopic filler.
    best,
    Francis
