Default New Nib for new Estie

I restored this Copper J last weekend. Today this NOS 9460 came in and writes like a dream compared to the worn 2668 that it came with. That nib was super smooth in the very small sweet spot, but incredibly scratchy otherwise. This nib is stiff, smooth, and just a tad bit stubby.

I don't know why the pic is sideways. Sorry.

I ordered a 9566 for my other J. If it writes like this 9460 I will be very happy.

Nice. I've never tried a *460 nib. Btw, did you mean 9566 or 9556? I have tried a few *556 nibs and have liked them. They are my preferred nib on Esterbrooks for daily writing.

I used that exact chart when looking for new nibs.
I really like the firm medium.

I almost tried one of the stub nibs, but couldn’t find a 9xxx for a reasonable price.

I’m super happy with the 9460. I don’t fill out carbon copies very often, but I don’t mind a firm nib.

    I don't see a 9566 there though.

I believe there may be no 9566 nib:
