    Default Fake Wing Sung 3008

Just for fun, I thought I’d share my fake Wing Sung. It was the second fountain pen I bought. The first was a no name bamboo pen with a calligraphy nib. I was still pretty ignorant about pens. I didn’t know a Wing Sung from a Mont Blanc. I bought it because it was clear see through plastic and I thought that was cool. And, it was only two dollars. It was advertised on E-bay as a 3008, but obviously it isn’t. There is no identification at all on it. The nib is a Lamy style marked with an F.

When I got it it wrote really dry and scratchy. It wasn’t until I got some better pens that I realized how bad it was. When I did, I just set it aside. But, thanks to what I’ve learned here and from other sources on the web, I’ve gotten it working pretty well. All it took was spreading the tines of the nib with a shim for better flow and a little polishing and aligning and now it writes fine.

Here it is filled with Quink blue black.

I find the cloning of Wing Sung to be entertaining. Already cheap, and they make the clones cheaper?

My 3008 has a wing sung marked nib (symbol) and the cap trim has markings. It looks very similar to yours. Nib is great but section started cracking. Hopefully my CA fix will keep ink off my hands. We'll see.

Usually a Chinese company will make a fake. Who makes a fake of a fake? Rocket Man and his nation of CV free people?

From the looks of it I have a fake one of those too. Mine says Lamy on it!

I've been sent two of these once when I was ordering PenBBS 494 pens, so it's as if this is the cheap, generic no-name Chinese piston-filled demonstrator to flog to customers who are after particular cheap, identifiable-by-name Chinese piston-filled demonstrator models by reputation but don't know the real thing by sight.
That would be me at the time I bought it. But you know, I'm not sorry I did. After a little work, which was educational and fun, it writes really nice. I really like it.

The genuine Wing Sung 3008 is also notoriously susceptible to that problem, but I have a bag of plastic screws of the right size for that model (and already replaced the screws in the caps on the two dozen or so WS3008 pens I have). The ‘fake’ model uses a differently specified finial screw.
Yep, mine is already rusty. They cut corners any way they can, don't they. I'll remove and clean it, paint with some Rustoleum and put it back. She'll be alright.

I have three pens and they are nice pens.
They take Lammy Safari Nibs. I have two pens with Safari EF nibs and good for scathing and drawing too.
You can use they with any notorious ink those pens can be thrown off!!!

I must have gotten lucky, because I have two that are reliable writers, smooth and reversible, running Pelikan 4001. The rewards of living good, surely.
