    Default Pens and Watches

Fountain pens and mechanical watches are considered, by many, to be "historical relics" but as we know, they are the best. Nothing nicer than looking at your non-dominant hand to see the second hand sweeping and then looking at your dominant hand to see it, with pen between thumb and fingers, flowing across the paper. I thought I would share a few photos of both.

Photo #1 Every Sailor should wear a good dive watch. Featured is a Sailor Promenade with a Davosa dive watch (Swiss made automatic)
Photo #2 A homage meets a homage. Featured is a Jinhao 992 (homage to a Sailor) and a BSH automatic custom built (homage to the Rolex 5517 Milsub).
Photo #3 If you plan to fly over the green mountains it would be good to wear a flieger. Featured is a Monteverde ("mountain green") Prima and a Tisell automatic flieger.
Photo #4 If you want to go fast out of the gate and across the paper one should be able to time it. Featured is a Sheaffer Prelude and a Hoffman "reverse panda" chronograph with a Seiko VK63 mecaquartz movement. The chronograph portion of the watch is mechanical.

I've only ever owned one digital watch, and that was a very long time ago. Call me old fashioned if you will, but an analog watch and a fountain pen suit me just fine.

    Lovely watches and pens!

Today's combo is out of this world. And if you're going to explore outer space, you need a pilot who is a cosmonaut.

This my Fortis Official Cosmonauts (Ref 610.22.158.1), the watch my wife gave me for our wedding, a Swiss automatic with ETA 2824-2 movent. It is paired with a humble, but excellent, Pilot Metropolitan with Fine nib.

From another pen photos thread here. My old Omega and Conklin aren't used very much; the photo is my pen store logo.

Here is my everyday watch that I've maintained regularly for 11 years. Since the photo was taken, the Omas found a new home and the watch face was swapped out by the Ball Watch factory in Switzerland to refresh the tritium. I chose this watch for ease of reading, day and night.

I am not a watch user let alone collector, but because I like vintage and mechanical things, I ended up with a pocket watch that is *kinda* working.

And of course, I have plenty of odd pens to take a photo with, such as this no brand no name Red White and Blue pen.

I just realize that I forgot to credit FredRydr 's photo in post #5 for the inspiration for my photo above.

I own a lot of different classic watches. I always have loved their look and feel, and I think they make you feel more elegant. I'm not talking about those newfangled quartz watches that most people wear today. I'm talking about the mechanical watch (or "watch" if you want to be fancy). Mechanical watches are the best ones from my point of view. They are made with gears, springs, and all sorts of stuff that makes them tick. My favorite ones I keep in a fancy jqueen watch winder that looks so stylish. A watch lover needs to keep the watches in the best conditions.

Hey Barry, that's a great attitude to have when it comes to playing your guitar! I totally get it. The music is what matters most. Speaking of time, have you ever thought about pawning your watch to get some extra cash for your guitar? I've had to do that before with my own watch. I had a Rolex but needed extra cash to upgrade my guitar gear. Luckily, I got a fair price for it at a Pawn shop London. I'm sure you'll be able to find a good pawn shop in London too, where you can get a fair price for your watch. Who knows, maybe you'll even be able to pick up a new guitar with the extra cash!

Wow! Those are some really impressive combinations you have there! I love the thought of having an elegant pen and a sophisticated watch - it's the perfect combination for making a statement. It's nice to see that these relics can still make an impact in this day and age. Thanks for sharing the photos!

I don't remember and will have to look. These original army knives were made by both, Wenger and Victorinox.
