Unfortunately, that's what I've found as well. That can also be true of a traditional forum, but I additionally find the subreddit kind of disorganized and hard to follow. It has a stream-of-consciousness sort of organization, I think. I kind of miss the usenet days where it was a fairly simple, pure thing. It certainly lacked many "modern features" though. And the usenet had some brawlers and funny characters back in the day that seem to have vanished.

Reddit forums are basically conversation streams in real time, with a window of opportunity to chime in before it scrolls away. Looking at only the fountain pen area, I look at reddit like walking into a room of people, with varying degrees of pen knowledge and experience, and asking a question. You never know who will be in the room, and what amount and quality of information you might get. I look at a long-running pen forum, like FPN, or maybe FPG, as akin to walking into a library full of fountain pen books, and doing research until I find the answer with all the material that is stored there.

Personally, after being ganged up on by members of this forum, I find the FPN quite a bit more tolerable. Not quite certain as to what technical issues they've had however I believe it had to do with cyber security and difficulty with people getting new accounts. As far as I can tell it's now all resolved there. I quite like their forum. Have a great weekend all.

Let's face it pal, you didn't do yourself any favors on the 'Taking a Break' thread, your feedback in Community was also badly flawed. I am also reminded of your aggression on the leather case thread on FPN.
