I took the reference to be about actual skills rather than a one-Rudd sample.

I make my suggestion with the most sincere of applications: those that embody the principles, not mere actors. There really are people in this life who have these qualities apart from a profession, or even avocation, to display them. Those among us who can bring people together, rather than drive them apart.

I suggest that a diverse skill set is required. Diplomacy is only effective if one has a firm and clear vision of the issues, objectives, and obstacles. Successful diplomacy also requires a Chessmaster's capacity for strategic thinking.
Then of course there is the old adage that diplomacy is only effective from a position of strength.
This is true for the boardroom and politics alike.

I really don't want to be a party pooper, or, heaven forfend, sound anything remotely like a FPN mod, but can we please all remember that there is a specific politics forum here and that this isn't it.

I like forums with specific politics sections. Lets me know right away which parts to avoid.

That's pretty much it. It was the one thing *we* asked for that the owner granted. It's called "Politics, Religion, and Society" (I think). It not only serves as a place for "please post it over there", but posts entered into that forum don't show up in the "What's New" stream, which many people check when first logging in/on. Very handy in avoiding triggers, etc.
So, yeah: a simple, community-based request - please put any content like that into that sub-forum, and kindly avoid drift into those topics (when at all possible) in general threads.

It will be an interesting scenario if FPN doesn't come back up.
