What do people think of the new interface/layout? Is this the final format?

I don't initially like it. However, a forum I have been very active on (and they have a single thread on fountain pens!) changed their forum which was about 15 years old onto a more dynamic looking thing. It will take a bit of getting used to.

Facebook has changed its layout/format and I really dislike it.

I don't actively dislike it. I'm assuming there'll be some refinements over time. Seems to have some additional features. And notifications work, which they never did for me.

I find it ironic that a lot of comments earlier in this thread were about how horrible FPN was/is because of mods removing people with no explanation. Yet A Smug Dill was removed from fpgeeks today. His posts removed, his ink reviews removed, apparently with no comments or explanation.

That is not a good development. I was away most of the day but it started this morning and the only materials I saw disappearing were the accounts, posts and "thanks" from the 6-7 troll accounts. I can see no reason for any removal of Dill's posts. I don't know him outside of the two forums, but if I had such contact I would write him and ask if he, himself, removed the material.

There are some things that Wim still has to work on, but the bulk of the board is back. I've gone through the pinned topics with images like exploded views and changed them so that they show again.

Right hand side near the top. It's marked "unread content" I don't know if that will be changed to "new posts" or not. I find the current label to be a bit confusing.

Any chance all the pinned posts could be indexed into a single (or small number) of pinned post(s) don’t take up two entire screens of posts before the first new one?

It was NOT at his request or by his own doing. I now know this, and it becomes yet another frustration. I have no idea whether it was an error or a purposeful move by Eric, but another reason to be discouraged.

I can't agree on that. However, it is absolutely the first day back, and the last thing I'll do is complain about it! I think that pointing out the areas that are broken or need attention can be helpful but I plan on giving them from days to weeks on their own to hammer out things, else it seem like a pile-on.

In the brief time I was there, one thing I noticed that was way out of whack was the "My Activity Streams". I used to always log into a stream that consisted of threads I had posted in within the last [insert length] number of days or so. The filters I tried out brought up content that I've never been involved with and in odd orders. Things like this will need to get eventually corrected, but I'll give them the time and space to do that.

That is some bullshit. Dill is certainly idiosyncratic, but he is a consistent contributor and has never been disrespectful on either board. He should be reinstated with an apology.

Well in a literal sense, yes it is readable. But the thread content is displayed in gray text, not black, so it readability is poor. I expect that they're using stock stylesheets from the new engine, and that this foolishness is the result of a 20-something recent grad in silicon valley, and not wim.

But this stuff is minor and can be improved over time.

Moderators and admins can see things that members can not see, and therefore would be able to sniff out duplicate accounts if a member created more than one. I am inclined to think that drastic action on the part of the admin has it's reasons. I'm not saying that is the case, but neither is it unreasonable.

I think they've made a mistake. The nasty version of Smug's name is still listing on my ignore list. I think they've taken him out rather than the troll in error.
