Ah yes, both the Dark Lord and the Loser's Debate Manual go back to Pentrace and were partially responsible for FPN's beginning.

Say whatever about the moderation habits and commercialization, I'd like those archives from the repair area available because I sometimes still have to look up fixes described on FPN over the past 15 years. Even with the fluff and occasional bad advice, there's still a lot of good advice from skilled repairmen from over the years.

I think that's a sentiment shared by most of us who frequent both FPN and FPG.

Ah, Warren, enjoy FPG while you're here. FPN and FPG each have a different feel, but FPG is a warm and friendly site. Comfortable, though different.

This morning's update, a little after midnight GMT -- London time, I call it.

    Update 2020-11-25 00:15 GMT / 2020-11-24 20:15 EST:
Next up are configuration, remaining website upgrades, and database upgrades to newer versions, once we are sure everything works. However, first step is configuring FPN so we can start discussing our favourite pastime again: fountain pens. We expect this to last another few days, so the end is finally in sight.

Had a rebuild on a 1999 Tahoe at 177k miles. What left has 280k and runs great.

NHRA top fuel mechanics often rebuild an engine between runs.

True, but then they've rebuilt uncountable engines in their careers, the same engine that many times the could probably do it blindfolded. I on the other hand have done it exactly once, and it took me the best part of a week.

My point is having a professional do a job usually, almost always, ends up with it being done right, faster, and with less aggro. And that leaves one wondering if FPN attempted to DIY.

Perhaps the FPN techs just were not under the kind of pressure IT professionals are usually under to minimize downtime.
