    Default Hobonichi Pen

There must be some Hobonichi users here, so I guess you are familiar with the multipen that gets given for free with the planner. I've been getting these for the last 4 years and every single pen has snapped on the threads, where you can potentially unscrew the pen to change ink refills.

I like the inks and the way they write, but the breakage is getting annoying, so I was thinking about getting a different multipen to use instead.

Anyone got any recommendations? Leaning a little toward the Lamy 2K version, open to other options.

Yes, it's not a fountain pen!

Hitec C Coleto is my recommendation. The ink is very smooth and comes in a wide variety of colors. My only complaint is that the refills are a finer point than I would prefer, but the system is good enough that I can live with it.

I do wish the refills and pens were more available in the United States, almost always has to come from overseas.

The Sailor Imperial Black multipen is a good option as well. It uses D1 refills which I personally am not a fan of, but it looks and feels like good quality.

Jetpens provides a nice list of options and things to consider in this article:

If you want something that is more like a fountain pen brand, besides Lamy there are multipens from Rotring and Monteverde.

If you like the Hobonichi refills, consider the Uni-ball Jetstream lineup. (I think the Hobonichi pen is a Jetstream?)
Alternatively, here's the Pen Addict top 5 (scroll).

    Thanks for suggestions.

Not sure why these Hobo pens keep breaking. They are kept in my work bag, so it's not as if they get bashed around or otherwise mistreated. Naturally I am looking for something a little more robust, but also I don't want to pay a fortune for non-fountain pen!

The Coleto C looks like a good option. Or, as mentioned earlier, the L2K multipen (although that is a bit spendy). Will have a look at Jetpens.

Quick revive for a follow-up question. Does anyone know if the Hobonichi multipen refills are generic and would fit other pen bodies?

Is this the yellow ball point with I think 3 different colours? I got one free with a planner a couple of years ago but have only recently started using it. The fine point on the refillers is excellent particularly when having to do tiny writing!

I was wondering what I would do when the colours run out so will be interested to see what you end up buying.

I'm pretty sure they're D1 refills, so should work in many of the multipen systems. I have a platinum transparent version (I like seeing what's loading) that I like a lot, simply because it includes a pencil as well as two colours of ballpoint and I know I've used a jetstream refill for one of the ballpoints with no problem. It's a cheap and cheerful option, but I've never been interested in spending a lot of money non-fountain pens, and pretty though the Lamy is, I would find the fixed colours annoying because they wouldn't match what I wanted to use.

Ah, a D1, that helps. I asked as I don't want to waste the refills that are in the borked Hobo pens. Thanks.
