    Default Mabie Todd Swan 15ct

Here is a lovely pen that sees little use. It is a Mabie Todd Swan made of solid gold. The cap/clip is marked 15k, the barrel is marked 15ct and made in New York, and it sports a No. 2 flexible nib marked Swan14ct and Mabie Todd & Co. Ltd. On the indicia area there is an engraving: LONDON 5-7-29 with lovely intertwined script initials.

I suspect JWK had a birthday celebration in London on the 7th of May, 1929, when the economy could still justify such an extravagant gift imported from Mabie Todd's New York facility.

I’m afraid I don’t know Mr. I. Man, but he must have good taste.

A gorgeous pen! US and British Swan designs didn't diverge much for a while.

This a beautiful pen!! But this pen is very clean and tidy from ageing.
Most of the metal pens, have the problem of the corroded section due to ink getting in ageing to silver or metal section wasted up. I learnt that point from a collector.
I have a Swam silver pen, it has the tiny signs of that problem.

Can anyone tell me the model name of this Mabie Todd Swan that appears in the first post, above? It is 13cm/5" long capped, and sports a No. 2 14ct nib.

Fred-- It looks very much like this one that PenHero posted.

    linky: https://www.penhero.com/PenGallery/M...elfFillers.htm

And I think it was just called a #2 Swan Gold with Pinstripe

I think Deb or Eachan can elaborate more about this model. BTW, if you ever decide to get rid of it, can I call "Dibs" ?

junglejim, thank you for those links, for you have struck gold (pun intended)!

Those Penhero photos from 2002 depict my very pen! Jim Mamoulides's photos predate my possession of it. Alas, I cannot recall how it came to me, so this lovely pen's provenance is fading.

I have resorted to calling Swans by their nib size when I didn't know the model name (my SF230 might also be called a Swan "No. 2" had I not known better).
